Planning your next adventure to Kyoto? Let us guide you through some of our favorite hidden gems that many have yet to discover.
Kyo-machiya can never be built again under current law, making it one of the most culturally significant and valuable architecture in Kyoto. Kyoto has an extraordinary history of leading the country as the capital of Japan for over 1200 years and has developed its own distinct culture in the process. Many of the traditional buildings still standing are fine examples of this. However, in recent years, modernization has led to a steady decrease of these buildings throughout the city, drastically changing the streetscape that was once synonymous to Kyoto. The preservation of Kyo-machiya is an essential step in protecting the beautiful city that has been handed down to us.
